Obtain A Graduation Cord

Posted by doctoralgowns on February 22, 2010 at 9:06 PM

If you strive to obtain a graduation cord, then you have so many advantages in your life to come. Some may come later, and some may come sooner. One of the most important advantages in having one occurs when you are trying to find a job. When looking for a job, you have the edge on any other person that is also applying. Why do you have the edge? Well, if you remember back to high school when you got the honor of getting a graduation cord, then you will realize why you have the edge over everyone else. I can easily assure you that if it is mentioned that during your senior year at graduation, you were wearing a graduation cord, then your interviewer will be wildly impressed. Rarely does a interviewer come across someone who has obtained a graduation cord. When they do, they try to hop on that opportunity, and hire that person who worked so hard during their high school career. This is a very important reason as to the importance of obtaining one. It could be the difference between getting that dream job, and flopping patties at the local McDonald’s. The students after that move the tassels from right to left, symbol of a rite of passage from the student to the graduate. Most of the ceremonies last two to three hours, which depends on how many of the graduates are there, length of the speeches & how many of musical selections are done. A Rite of Passage A rite of passage has 3 stages: transition, separation, and incorporation. Student's journey is very much similar to all these stages. For a graduate, the separation is during struggles of the school, transition is a ceremony process, as well as incorporation is "turning a tassel." Ritual of the graduation adds touch of melancholy & pride to a rite of passage. And parents who are watching their kids pass to the new stage of life, as well as graduates feel pleased in the accomplishments. Master's hood is the reward for hard work & dedication that you have devoted to field of study at the university. Velvet colors of hood that symbolize degree that you have earned, and should get displayed properly in front and rear of your hood. You don’t traditionally wear hood unless your degree is handed to you and academic authority has been "hooded" you in commencement ceremony. Nevertheless, a few universities may instruct you wear hood throughout a ceremony due to size and time constraints. Dress in the clothing and graduation gown prior to wearing a hood. Put hood over you head, velvet side up, with small tapered V shaped end in front of neck and long U shaped rear draping over your back. Smooth your front of a hood in the place so that it rests very comfortably below your chin and over shoulders. Secure front loop to the clothes or else gown zipper in order to keep your hood in proper place.
